TallyTab — Terms of Service
Status: draft for legal review — not yet in force.
Last updated: 29 July 2026
The short version
- TallyTab shows you your money in one calm, private place. It is read-only: it can never move your money, and your bank login details never touch us.
- TallyTab is an information service, not financial advice. Figures can lag or contain errors — always check with your bank before making decisions.
- Bank connections run through an FCA-authorised open banking provider, «Yapily / TrueLayer / Finexer». Our own regulatory status is explained in section 5.
- The core app is free. TallyTab Plus costs £3.99 a month. Eligible first-time subscribers receive a 7-day free trial through Apple or Google; it then renews monthly unless cancelled in the relevant app store.
- No ads. No selling your data. Ever.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account (or email privacy@tallytab.co.uk), and your data goes with it, apart from short-lived backups and a few records the law makes us keep.
- These terms are a contract between you and Datavise Limited. Nothing in them takes away your statutory rights as a UK consumer.
The short version is here to help, but the full terms below are what count.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
TallyTab is operated by Datavise Limited, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC817715). Our registered office is 2nd Floor Clyde Offices, 48 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 1BP, United Kingdom. We trade as TallyTab.
Our website is https://tallytab.co.uk.
| What you need | Who to email |
|---|---|
| Help using the app, complaints | support@tallytab.co.uk |
| Privacy and your data | privacy@tallytab.co.uk |
| Anything else | hello@tallytab.co.uk |
When we say "TallyTab", "we", "us" or "our" in these terms, we mean Datavise Limited. When we say "you", we mean the person using TallyTab.
2. A few definitions
We have kept these to a minimum.
- The app — the TallyTab application for Android and iOS, and the service behind it.
- Open banking — the UK system that lets you securely share read-only information from your payment accounts (such as current accounts and credit cards) with regulated third parties. Some other account types, such as investments, may reach TallyTab through related secure data-sharing services run by the Provider rather than open banking itself.
- AISP — an Account Information Service Provider: a firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to access account information through open banking, with your consent.
- The Provider — our open banking partner, «Yapily / TrueLayer / Finexer», the FCA-authorised AISP that connects to your bank and other institutions on your behalf (see section 5).
- Plus — the paid TallyTab Plus subscription (see section 8).
- Your content — things you create in the app: categories, notes, budgets, goals and rules.
3. Who can use TallyTab
To use TallyTab you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be a UK resident (this applies while TallyTab is in beta — we may open up to other countries later);
- create one account only, for your own personal use; and
- give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
TallyTab is for personal use. You may not use it for business purposes or on behalf of anyone else.
4. What TallyTab is — and what it is not
What TallyTab is. TallyTab is a personal-finance app. With your consent, it connects to your bank accounts, credit cards, savings and investments through open banking and related secure data-sharing services provided by the Provider, and shows you your net worth, spending, budgets, goals and helpful nudges — all in one place. Connections are read-only.
TallyTab can also send you nudges and service messages as notifications (for example, a heads-up when a bill jumps or a payment is due, or an "update ready" message). Nudges are generated by our service when your data refreshes and delivered as push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) and, on iOS, Apple's Push Notification service. Daily net-worth notifications are off until you turn them on. When enabled, their remote message includes your current GBP net worth and the change since the previous daily update we sent, so those values can appear in your device's notification UI. To reach your device, a push token for the device is stored on our servers, linked to your account. When you sign out, the app durably queues removal of the matching server record and retries after an offline sign-out; account deletion removes it as part of the account's database cascade. The notification content and token pass through Google's and/or Apple's push infrastructure. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your device settings. They are informational only.
What TallyTab is not. This part matters, so we will be blunt:
- TallyTab is not financial advice. Nothing in the app — including categorisation, budgets, analytics and nudges — is a recommendation to buy, sell, save, borrow, invest or do anything else with your money. Our nudges and categorisation are informational only and are not decisions with legal or similar effect on you. If you need advice, speak to a regulated financial adviser.
- TallyTab is not a bank. We do not hold your money, and your money is never with us.
- TallyTab cannot move money. Connections are read-only. Neither we nor the Provider can make payments, transfers or changes to your accounts.
- TallyTab is a mirror, not the source. The figures you see can lag behind your bank, and occasionally they can be wrong (see section 14). Always verify balances and transactions with your bank before acting on them.
5. Regulatory status and open banking
Bank connections in TallyTab are provided through the Provider — «Yapily / TrueLayer / Finexer» — which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an Account Information Service Provider (AISP), firm reference number «number». You can check the FCA register at https://register.fca.org.uk.
Here is how the arrangement works:
- The Provider connects to your bank and retrieves your account information with your explicit consent.
- TallyTab receives read-only account data from the Provider and displays it to you.
- Your bank login credentials never touch TallyTab. You authenticate directly with your bank (usually in your banking app), and neither we nor the Provider ever see your bank password.
When you connect an account in TallyTab, you also enter into an agreement with the Provider and accept the Provider's own terms of service, which will be shown to you during the connection flow.
Our own status. «Datavise Limited is not itself authorised or regulated by the FCA — the regulated account information service is provided by the Provider. / Datavise Limited is a registered agent of the Provider, firm reference number «number» — you can verify this on the FCA register.» One of these statements will apply at launch, depending on the arrangement we finalise with the Provider, and we will publish the correct one here before these terms come into force.
6. Your open banking consent: how it works, how to end it
- You are in control. Accounts connect only when you choose to connect them, and you consent bank by bank — one consent per institution, covering the accounts you hold there.
- Consent lasts 90 days. Under open banking rules, your consent to share payment-account data must be renewed roughly every 90 days. The app will prompt you when a renewal is due. If you do not renew, that connection simply stops updating. (Some account types, such as investments, may arrive through the Provider's related data-sharing services, and their consent and refresh mechanics can differ — the connection flow will show you what applies.)
- You can revoke at any time. You can disconnect any account in the app whenever you like. You can also withdraw access directly with your bank (most banking apps have an "open banking" or "connected services" section). Revoking stops future data sharing; data already in TallyTab stays until you delete it or your account (see section 16 and our Privacy Policy).
7. Your account and keeping it secure
You sign in with an email address and password, or with Google or Apple sign-in. Please:
- keep your sign-in details secret and do not share your account;
- use the optional biometric app lock (Face ID or fingerprint) if your device supports it and you would like an extra layer of protection;
- keep your device's operating system up to date and protect the device itself; and
- tell us straight away at support@tallytab.co.uk if you think someone else has accessed your account.
You are responsible for activity on your account, except where it results from our failure to take reasonable care. We will never ask you for your password by email.
8. TallyTab Plus
Price and billing. TallyTab Plus costs £3.99 per month, including VAT where applicable. You subscribe through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), and Apple or Google handles all payment. We never see your card details — we only receive signed transaction information and your subscription status.
Seven-day introductory trial. Apple or Google may offer eligible first-time subscribers seven days of Plus at no charge. Eligibility is determined by the store and shown before you confirm the subscription. The trial begins when the store confirms your subscription. Unless you cancel through that store before the trial ends, the subscription automatically continues at £3.99 per month. The store purchase sheet shows the exact trial end and first billing dates.
Auto-renewal. After any introductory trial, Plus renews automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel before the renewal date shown by Apple or Google to avoid the next charge.
How to cancel:
| Where you subscribed | How to cancel |
|---|---|
| App Store (iPhone/iPad) | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → TallyTab → Cancel |
| Google Play (Android) | Play Store → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → TallyTab → Cancel |
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — you must cancel in your store settings.
Price changes. If we change the price of Plus, you will be told in advance through the app and through Apple's or Google's standard notice process, and the change will only apply from your next renewal after the notice period. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
Your legal right to change your mind. As a UK consumer you normally have a 14-day cancellation right when you buy digital services online. Because Apple or Google is the merchant of record for Plus, that right operates through them at the point of purchase, under their processes: request a refund from Apple through its "Report a Problem" service, or through Google Play's refund process. If the store grants you a seven-day introductory trial, no payment is taken during it, so cancelling before it ends means you pay nothing. Your statutory rights against us under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — for example, if the service is faulty or not as described — are unaffected.
9. The free tier
The core TallyTab experience is free. We intend to keep a useful free tier, but we may change what is included in it (for example, moving a feature into Plus or adding limits). If we make a material change to the free tier, we will give you reasonable advance notice in the app and by email to the address on your account.
10. Acceptable use
Use TallyTab fairly and lawfully. You must not:
- connect or attempt to access accounts or data that are not your own;
- use the app for any unlawful purpose, including fraud or money laundering;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except to the limited extent the law allows despite this restriction;
- scrape the service, probe or test its security without our written permission, or interfere with its operation;
- resell, rent out or commercially exploit the app or data obtained through it; or
- misuse the service in a way that harms us or other users.
If you break these rules we may suspend or close your account (see section 16).
11. Intellectual property and your licence to use the app
Our stuff. The app, its design, code, branding and content (other than your content and your financial data) belong to Datavise Limited or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices, for your own personal use, in line with these terms and the app store terms under which you downloaded it (see section 12). That licence ends only if this agreement ends under section 16.
Your stuff. Your content — the categories, notes, budgets, goals and rules you create — remains yours, as does your financial data. You grant us a limited licence to host, store, process and display your content and data solely to operate and improve the service for you. That licence ends when the relevant data is deleted. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising — see our Privacy Policy at https://tallytab.co.uk/privacy for the full picture.
12. Third-party services and app store terms
Parts of your experience are provided by others, under their own terms:
- Apple and Google — app distribution, billing for Plus, and refunds are governed by the Apple Media Services terms or the Google Play terms.
- The Provider («Yapily / TrueLayer / Finexer») — the open banking connection is governed by the Provider's terms, accepted when you connect an account.
- Infrastructure suppliers (such as Supabase, which hosts our authentication and database in London) process data on our behalf under our instructions — details are in our Privacy Policy.
We are responsible for TallyTab. We are not responsible for services those third parties supply to you under their own terms, though this does not limit our own obligations to you under these terms or under law.
App Store terms (Apple). If you downloaded TallyTab from the App Store, the following also applies, as Apple requires:
- These terms are between you and Datavise Limited only — not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence to use the app is limited to use on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. That is our job — contact support@tallytab.co.uk.
- If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund any purchase price you paid for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property rights, we — not Apple — are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce these terms against you.
Google Play. If you downloaded TallyTab from Google Play, your download is also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service, and billing and refunds for Plus follow Google Play's payment and refund policies.
13. Service availability
We will provide TallyTab with reasonable skill and care, as required by section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
That said, no online service is available 100% of the time:
- we may need to take the service down for maintenance — where practicable we will schedule this at quiet times and give notice in the app;
- outages at banks, the Provider, app stores or our hosting suppliers can interrupt parts of the service; and
- TallyTab is currently in beta: features may change, appear or disappear, bugs are more likely than in a mature product, and we may occasionally pause bank connections or other features while we fix things.
14. Accuracy of the figures you see
TallyTab displays information supplied by your banks and other institutions via the Provider. We work to present it faithfully, but:
- balances and transactions are refreshed periodically, not in real time, and can lag behind your bank;
- upstream data can occasionally be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and our automatic categorisation can mislabel transactions; and
- net worth, budgets and analytics are only as accurate as the data underneath them.
Always check with your bank before relying on a figure — for example, before making a large payment or a financial decision. TallyTab is a guide, not a source of truth.
15. Our liability to you
What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- our liability under data protection law, including your right to compensation under Article 82 of the UK GDPR — and the cap below does not apply to it; or
- any rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (or other law) that cannot be excluded or limited.
What we are not liable for. Subject to the paragraph above, we are not liable for:
- losses arising from financial decisions you make based on information displayed in the app — the figures are informational and you must verify them with your bank (section 14) — unless the loss was caused by our failure to provide the service with reasonable skill and care;
- interruptions or errors caused by your bank, the Provider, Apple, Google or other upstream services we do not control;
- events beyond our reasonable control (for example, widespread internet or power failures, industrial action, or actions of regulators);
- losses that were not foreseeable to both of us when you accepted these terms; or
- business losses — TallyTab is for personal use only.
The cap. Subject to everything above, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with TallyTab is limited to the greater of £100 or the total amounts you paid for TallyTab Plus in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (whether billed by Apple or Google). This cap does not apply to anything in the "What we never exclude" list.
If we fail to meet the standards the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires — for example, if the service is not performed with reasonable skill and care — you are entitled to the remedies that Act provides, and nothing in this section takes those away.
16. Ending things: your side and ours
You can leave any time. Use Settings → Delete account in the app, or email privacy@tallytab.co.uk and we will do it for you. Deletion erases your identity and everything in the app database in one operation — if it cannot complete, it fails visibly rather than half-deleting. The only things that outlive deletion are copies in encrypted backups (which roll off within «30» days), support emails, and the minimal subscription and accounting records the law requires us to keep — see our Privacy Policy (section 11) for details. If you have a Plus subscription, remember to cancel it in your app store as well — deleting your account does not cancel store billing.
We can suspend or close accounts. We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms (for example, the acceptable use rules in section 10);
- we are required to by law or by a regulator; or
- we discontinue the service (in which case we will notify you in the app and by email to the address on your account, give you as much notice as we reasonably can, and give you time to export your data).
Where practicable we will give you notice and a chance to put things right before suspending or closing your account, and we will act proportionately.
If we end things and you have paid for Plus. If we close your account (other than for your serious or repeated breach of these terms) or discontinue the service part-way through a period you have paid for, you will receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of that period. Because Apple or Google bills Plus as merchant of record, we will procure that refund through them.
Getting your data out. In-app CSV export of your transactions is a TallyTab Plus feature. But every user — free or Plus — can always obtain a full machine-readable copy of their data free of charge: use the full export in the app, or email privacy@tallytab.co.uk.
What survives. Sections that by their nature should continue — including intellectual property (11), liability (15), governing law (19) and general terms (20) — survive the end of this agreement.
17. Changes to the service and to these terms
Changes to the service. We improve TallyTab continuously and may add, change or remove features. During beta, expect more change than usual (section 13).
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms — for example, to reflect new features, legal requirements or changes to our providers. For material changes we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the app and by email to the address on your account before they take effect. If you do not agree with the new terms, you can close your account before they apply, and we will not hold you to the change. Continuing to use TallyTab after the notice period means you accept the updated terms. Minor changes (like fixing typos or clarifying wording without changing meaning) may take effect immediately.
Changes that affect Plus. If a material change to these terms or the service adversely affects what you get with Plus, it will take effect for you no earlier than your next renewal after the notice. If you close your account instead, the pro-rata refund commitment in section 16 applies to the unused part of any period you have paid for.
18. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, we genuinely want to know.
- Email support@tallytab.co.uk with as much detail as you can. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate, and keep you updated until it is resolved.
- Not satisfied? Ask for your complaint to be escalated and it will be reviewed by senior staff at Datavise Limited.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR). If we cannot resolve your complaint and reach deadlock, we are required to tell you about certified ADR providers. «ADR position to be decided — we will name a certified ADR provider here, or state that we do not use one, and confirm whether we are willing to take part.»
About the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). «If Datavise Limited is not an FCA-authorised firm or registered agent at launch: complaints about TallyTab itself are not covered by the FOS, but the account information service is provided by the FCA-authorised Provider, and complaints about that regulated service may be eligible for referral to the FOS under the Provider's own complaints process. / If Datavise Limited is a registered agent of the Provider: complaints about the account information service you receive through TallyTab may be eligible for the FOS through the Provider as our principal.» We will publish the correct signposting here before these terms come into force.
Your right to bring a claim in court, and your other statutory rights, are unaffected by this section.
19. Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. In addition, if you live in Scotland you can bring proceedings in the Scottish courts, and if you live in Northern Ireland you can bring proceedings in the Northern Irish courts. As a consumer, you also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the part of the UK where you live.
20. General terms
- Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any terms presented in-app for specific features, are the whole agreement between you and us about TallyTab. Nothing in this clause excludes liability for misrepresentation, and anything we say about the service that you rely on when deciding to use TallyTab forms part of our contract with you (section 50, Consumer Rights Act 2015). These terms do not affect any rights you have by law.
- Severance. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up — we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation (for example, a group company or a buyer of our business); we will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to anyone else.
- Third parties. These terms are between you and us; no one else has rights under them, except that where you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you (see section 12).
Questions about these terms? Email hello@tallytab.co.uk — a human will reply.
